Blantyre communities hail Cadecom

Communities in Traditional Authority (T/A) Kunthembwe in Blantyre have hailed the Catholic Development Commission (Cadecom) for implementing integrated projects that have improved people’s lives in the area.

Group Village Head Kaliati led people under his jurisdiction last week to thank Cadecom for implementing water, hygiene, sanitation and food security programmes in the area.

The traditional leader was speaking when Cadecom national programme officer Martin Mazinga toured projects the organisation is implementing.

“I have been here for a long time and I have seen a number of people coming with different initiatives to help us, but most of them concentrate on a particular initiativ not Cadecom.

“Their projects are touching on every aspect of our lives. They range from sanitation, agriculture, women empowerment and irrigation. This is commendable,” said Kaliati.

Mazinga commended people in the area for working hard to uplift their lives and communities.

“We believe that development should take a holistic approach. That is why we are implementing various projects that affect every sector of the society because human life is complex.

“It is interesting to see the hardworking spirit of the people, which to us is a motivating factor to lobby for more funds,” he said.

Cadecom, with funding from Caritas Australia, is implementing an Integrated Community Development Programme (ICDP) in the area.
